The MTV Movie Awards weren’t nearly as good this year as they have been in the past. Normally one of the best things to look forward to is the movie parodies that they annually do, yet this year they decided to let “normal people” submit them ala YouTube. a) Not everything on YouTube is funny. b) People that have had their own show on Comedy Central are not your everyday run-of-the-mill user. Sarah Silverman was funny, she almost made Paris Hilton cry, but I just think most of the audience didn’t appreciate her style of humor.
The one real standout for me was this video (lame MTV for pulling it from YouTube, at least let your videos be embedded if you’re going to put it on a subpar player). It’s hilarious, and even funnier because I know at least three people who suffer from this horrible affliction.
It seems like there is a new “this is the coolest HDR photo ever” popping up all over these here interwebs every couple of days, but this one… this is pretty badass.
I’m halfway through this week’s SNL and it’s horrible. Seriously, this is f*$%ng pathetic. SNL hasn’t been funny in years, and every year it’s “Next year is going to be the year it gets better”. This isn’t pro sports, there isn’t a rebuilding period, get it right or get it off the air.
I’ve been unpacking for the past couple of weeks, and feel like I will be for the next couple of years. When I first moved into my last apartment, it was the first place I had lived on my own, so I really didn’t have that much stuff during the move. I realized I’ve picked up a lot of shit along the way.
Has anyone used these Space Bags or anything similar? I’ve got a ton of jackets and sweaters that just aren’t made for California weather.
I just got done watching the first episode of This American Life on Showtime. It’s the first time the long-running NPR show has made an appearance on TV despite being rumored for the better part of a decade. Holy crap, it’s amazing. I never would have thought that I would be as emotionally invested in a cloned bull as I was with Second Chance and his family.
I should have expected nothing less than amazing though. Ira Glass and the rest of the team that works on the fantastic NPR version have been apparently working on the television edition for over a year, and it certainly shows. I love the radio version, and as much as I’ve been on the edge of my seat waiting for this one, I have to admit that I was more than a little concerned. Would it translate ok? I love Super Size Me, and while there are some standout episodes, 30 Days (it’s television counterpart) doesn’t hold a candle to it.
My fears were quickly squashed with TAL’s opening piece about a woman remembering an accident on a bus when she was a little girl. From there I was wrapped up in two equally amazing stories that you have to watch to appreciate. I’m going to try and see if I can talk to Ira Glass and crew for Netscape, I think they’d make an awesome piece. I do have one request though, I want more!!
